Giggling for Charity

Sorry this week’s post is so late and that I missed last week. I will be better and post during the week this coming week. Clorox Green Works is donating $20,000 to the Environmental Media Association’s school garden program (EMA) yet to get to $20,000 they need our help. Green Works has pledged to donate $15,000 to EMA and the remaining $5,000 is up to Twitter users and jokes. For every joke tweeted with the hashtag #gigglingdaisies, Green Works will donate $1 to EMA. This only goes until May 31st so you need to act fast! EMA supports gardens and greenery in urban schools in Los Angeles. I apologize for my followers that are not twitter users, I will be back next week with something you can partake in. Happy Joke Telling!

Until next week,
Annie

Recyclebank

To be honest I thought I had already blogged about Recyclebank however in looking back it looks like they have not gotten their own blog. Recylebank is a great company that is getting people to recycle, learn about recycling, and also other green and environmentally friendly things by awarding points. There are certain areas of the country in which you can be rewarded for merely using your recycling can. For people like me though that are not in one of those areas I go online to their site and am awarded points by participating in the different learning activities that they have. I find them quite fun, educational and very interesting. As with many of the other sites like this, there are many rewards (gift cards, discounts, etc) however you can also donate your points to go towards different non-profits that have an environmental focus. So sometime this week go ahead and sign up at recyclebank and start earning points! Happy recycling!

Until next week,
Annie

Commit to Thrive

This week’s blog post is pretty fun and easy however it is time sensitive. April is “Hyatt Thrive’s Global Month of Community Service” when their employees give back yet they are also calling to community members to also give back. By “committing to thrive” in the month of April, read a book to a child, plant a tree, serve a meal, etc. you are not only helping your community but Hyatt will also donate a book to a child in need. For every “share” they get of the “commit to thrive” badge they will donate a book. You can share this on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. This has to be done by April 30 so make sure to share the badge soon. Since the month is almost over, I would think if you volunteered at any point in the month of April, it would be appropriate to share the badge. So take a look back at this past month, and decide if you want to “commit to thrive” and share a book with a child.

Until next week,
Annie

Re-Leaf with Michaels

This week’s post requires one simple thing, a phone with texting capabilities! Michaels (the craft store) has teamed with American Forests to donate a tree every time someone opts-in for Michaels text alerts. All you have to do is text RELEAF to 273283. I like to try and do the posts that I blog about so I myself texted 273283. When you first text it will text you back thanking you for helping plant a tree and then will ask you if you want to continue getting texts from them. From the looks of it you can help plant a tree and not have to get regular texts from Michaels however if you do want the “alerts” it is up to eight per month. American Forests has planted over 40 million trees sense 1990 and works to help protect and expand our forests. So this week when you have a minute text RELEAF to 273283 and help plant a tree! It is Earth Month! Happy Planting!

Until next week,

Kellogg's Share Breakfast

Students can be more focused and active merely by having breakfast every morning. 1 in 5 children may miss breakfast and Kellogg’s is trying to change this. For every share on Facebook, Tweet, Pin, or video watched on YouTube, Kellogg’s will share breakfast with kids in need. This is a very easy task and can take only a minute of your time. By simply sharing something, you can make sure a child has breakfast (a meal you don’t want to miss). So take a minute this week and either share or watch so that you can share breakfast with others! Happy sharing!

Until next week,

March Madness with FreeKibble

I’ve posted about freekibble.com before however this past week I learned about something they do during March Madness which is pretty fun, easy to do and helps feed even more animals. For every “like” on Freekibble’s Facebook page during now through April 8, a meal will be donated to a shelter pet. On the site when you answer the daily questions it’s 10 pieces of kibble that are donated; this is a whole meal being donated! As well, for every “like” Halopet’s Facebook page gets they will donate another meal. So you can very easily donate two meals to shelter pets by simply “liking” two great organizations on Facebook. Yeah, I get that this requires a Facebook page, however if you do not have one I’m sure a friend of yours does so you can encourage them to like these two organizations for you! Head on over to Facebook right now and take 1 minute to like the two pages and donate to animals in need. Happy “liking”!

Until next week,
Annie
