Labels for Education

This week we are going back to school, well at least our donations are! Labels for Education is a program very much like Box Tops however schools gain points instead of money. All you need to do is cut off the upc within the dotted lines with the Labels for Education logo. Make sure you have the upc code (shown above) because that is what helps with getting the points. There is a catalog that schools can pick things out of with the points they have acquired. A fun thing about Labels for Education is you can enter your zip code on their site and find a list of schools in your area that are collecting the labels. They each have a site that lists how many points they have and also items that they want. For someone like me who does not have children in school, I really like this because I can pick a school by me that I want to support. They also have a list of products that you can get the labels off of which I included below. This program really helps our schools and comes from products that many of us are buying anyway like campbell’s soup and pop secret pop corn. Happy clipping!

Until next week,
Annie

Tropicana Juicy Rewards

This week we are not only going to be helping others, well the rainforest, but we are going to help get some vitamin C in our system! Tropicana has a rewards program that as of right now is only going on until February 28, 2011 so I wanted to get this to you as soon as possible. Hopefully they will extend it but who knows. There is still a month though which gives us plenty of time to drink some orange juice. On each carton of Tropicana juice you buy there should be a code (most likely on the inside of the cap). It is very easy to sign up for an account and once you do you can enter your codes. The codes can be redeemed for offers and items however they can also be donated to save the rainforest. I just donated the 33 points I had in my account and that saved 1,100 sq. ft. of rainforest. Its easy, it does cost a little for the orange juice but I have a feeling that many of us drink it anyway because it helps improve our health and keep away a cold! Happy cold fighting and rainforest saving!

Until next week,
Annie

Free Kibble

We return this week to our good ole click-n-give sites. Unlike the last ones which have mostly helped people, this week’s site is about the animals, specifically dogs and cats. One, of many, amazing things about this site is that it was started by an eleven year old girl. Every day a new question is posted on the site. All you have to do is answer it, not even get it right, and 10 pieces of kibble are donated. When you are done with that click on the bar that says “Thanks for feeding the dogs! Click to feed cats too!” and answer another question. It is very easy and takes a minute, maybe two, out of your day. Since 2008 more than 4.5 million nutritious meals have been given to shelter animals nationwide. There is also a game for your phone that you can download and you can sign up for a daily reminder to visit the site and answer the question. Animals hold a special place in many of our hearts and even though they may not be your own animal they still deserve the best care, and food, possible. Happy gained knowledge in dog and cat trivia!

Until next week,
Annie

Teens for Jeans

To change things up a little this week we are going “offline”. You can find out about this week’s cause online but it is a real life thing. This week is meant to help the teenagers in your city in a direct way. The cause is called, Teens for Jeans, and is in its 4th year of existence. The objective is to donate gently worn jeans to your local Aeropostale Clothing store who will in turn donate the jeans to local homeless shelters or charities. I’m sure not all of you who look at this website are a teenager however I have a feeling you know someone who has a teenager or is a teenager. Aeropostale will be collecting the jeans from January 17 through February 13 so I thought I would put this up a little early to give you time to collect jeans. This is something great and even if you can’t donate a pair of jeans than take a look around the dosomething website. It’s a great organization helping lots of people. Happy warmth!

Until next week,
Annie

PS: Little fact for you this week: 1 in 3 homeless people in the US right now are under the age of 18.

Box Tops For Education

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Hope everyone’s New Year is off to a good start and you are accomplishing the things you want to do. As you start a new year why not continue to make a difference in the lives of others, this week in education. Box Tops for Education is a program that has been going on for many years and is helping schools get needed money to help improve things. Box Tops can be found on Betty Crocker products, Pillsbury, Kleenex, Fruit Snakes, Cheerios, etc. They are on many items that we buy and you may not even know they are there. Each box top is worth 10 cents yet when collected and put together you get $46 million donated last year. If you don’t have kids than think about picking a school that is close to you or one in your community that may need help. On their website, http://www.boxtops4education.com/, you can find a list of all the products that is printer friendly and all on one page. This is a great program and something that you can add to your things to remember to do in 2011! Happy Eating!

Until next week,
Annie
