Recycled Cards

As you look back on this year and begin to clean up from the holiday season don’t throw out all the cards you have gotten. If you are someone who gets rid of your cards after you read them I have somewhere for you to send them. St. Jude’s Ranch for Children takes recycled cards and makes them into cards that can be reused. They only use the front of the card so as long as the inside left is free of all writing your cards are perfect. The other thing is that they cannot take Hallmark cards. So while you are cleaning up and making those New Year’s resolutions to de-clutter your house don’t forget to set aside cards for all occasions to send to St. Jude’s Ranch to be recycled and reused! Happy Holidays!

Pepsi Refresh Project

This time of year many people like to give to others and what better way to give the hope of a nice $5k, $25k, $50k, and even $250K grant to worthy projects just by the click of a mouse. Pepsi has been helping people and organizations this year by allowing people to vote on projects that have the chance to be given one of their grants. These are projects from individuals, schools, etc. all the way to known non-profits like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the St. Bernard Project in New Orleans. The top 10 ideas for $5k, $25k, and $50k are awarded the grant money and then the top 2 ideas for $250k are awarded the grant. Pepsi has given away over $11 million this year alone and it is all thanks to the entries and people’s votes. All you have to do is sign up and then you get 10 votes every single day. These projects are doing a lot of good work and helping many people. Happy Holidays and Happy Voting!!

Games that Give

This week’s entry is to take a little down time and relax from the busy and stressful season we are in, and/or take a break from studying for finals. This week we are going to play games online and while doing so the money that is generated from the advertisements is donated to different non-profit organizations. Gamesthatgive.net allows its users to play games in which 70% of the funds raised goes towards organizations like Feeding America, Ronald McDonald House Charities, DoSomething.org, Jumpstart, United Way, and the list goes on. Games that give has given over $69,000 to charities and its all due to people playing fun games. I find myself getting on and playing a game pretty often and its also a great thing to do while watching tv, listening to music, or talking on the phone. You can go on the website and create an account or you can just go online and play without an account; you cannot pick what organization you want to donate to without an account though. The sign-up process is very easy and you can pretty quickly be playing games in no time. Hope you are all able to relax and play some games to help others. Happy Playing!!

Until next week,
Annie
