Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

This week’s blog will probably be about something that many of you know or have at least seen advertisements for. Halloween is in a little over a week and in celebration of the holiday this week’s blog is about Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. It is a way for kids to help other kids and also for us to be able to give back by just donating a few coins. All you have to do is either order boxes online from UNICEF’s site or visit any crocs store and then on Halloween night instead of going around asking for candy you take the box and ask for change from people. There are some facts on the boxes to help you know where the money goes and how the money is used. After Halloween you can take the money you raised to any coinstar machine and you will see a setting that allows you to donate the money to Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. There are also other ways to send in the money that are on the website. I just find the coinstar option as the easiest. So as you spend this week getting the final touches for your Halloween costume think about maybe getting a box or setting aside some change in hopes that someone trick-or-treating will have a box you can put your change in. Happy Halloween!

Until next week,
Annie

World Food Day

Today was World Food Day so this week for my blog we will be lending our voice to help end hunger. We are once again visiting One.org and then also a new site 1billionhungry.org which is the World Food Day’s website. Both main pages are a petition to congress to fully fund Feed the Future and helping to stop the hunger crisis. Over 30,000 children have died in 3 months because of the famine in Somalia and there are approximately 1 billion people who are chronically hungry. We know how to prevent this and to help put an end to hunger yet it takes the help of many people. So tonight, or in the next few days, after, or before, you have dinner head to one.org and 1billionhungry.org and sign the petition to help end hunger and the famine. Happy lending your voice.

Until next week,
Annie

Pumpkin Carving!

This week I’m helping us get in the holiday mood and bringing in some decorating fun! Better Homes and Gardens is raising money for March of Dimes, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Rebuilding Together, and Big Brother Big Sisters through pumpkin carving! They have seven stencils on their website that can be downloaded and used to help you in carving your pumpkin. Every time a stencil is downloaded they will donate $2 to the cause that you choose the stencil from. They will donate up to $5,000 to each organization. For someone like me who cannot carve a pumpkin at all this seems like a very fun and doable craft plus I’m helping others by at least trying. So when you are decorating your pumpkins this month, think about downloading a stencil to help you in carving and helping others. Happy Carving!

Until next week,
Annie

Supporting Breast Cancer Research

This week we are doing our share to help fight breast cancer in many different ways. My Sunday paper had a number of ways to help that I am now bringing to all of you. Dannon has put codes on their products that when entered online at cupsofhope.com, 10 cents will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. Freschetta has also marked certain products of theirs that when the code is entered online $1.00 is donated to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Lastly, in this week’s P&G brandSaver there are three ways to give. For every coupon used from this weeks and the 10/16 brandSaver, 2 cents will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Along with the coupons, for every “like” they get on facebook.com/PGUnitedWeBeautify, 10 cents will be donated and if you spend $50 on Venus, Olay, Secret, CoverGirl, Nice ‘n Easy, Pantene, Safeguard or Ivory you get a $10 rebate as well as $10 is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. So this week when you are out-and-about doing some grocery shopping do not forget your coupons, as well as any dannon products or freschetta pizza that you may need. Happy supporting Breast Cancer Research!

Until next week,
Annie
